What a bunch of crap!  Is the person that wrote this article getting paid?  I drive an 18 year old truck because I use it as a truck.  It gets dirty and hauls things.  Not only that, there are three reasons I do not buy anything new:  first, I refuse to pay that much for a truck that needs constant, high dollar maintenance,  next, refuse to pay full coverage insurance costs (even though I have never had a ticket or accident)and finally, got sick of people backing into my vehicle in parking lots, denting the side when they open their door, fender bender accidents and so forth.  Vehicles, depreciate in value, it is a bad investment.  Drive what you have until it literally falls apart.

Stupid article written by a stupid person, good job MSN for hosting this junk. Ever think that maybe some people drive a certain car because of reasons that have nothing to do with image or ego? Sometimes you buy a car just because its a super good deal, then decide to make a daily driver out of it. Sometimes people by econo-boxes not because thats the type of image they want to show as much as just wanting to save on gas. Sometimes people by and drive cars just because they think that particular car is neat, like the persons comment talking about how cool hummer H1s actually are, how amazingly tough they are and cheap to work on. I myself have read many articles on just how incredible the H1s off road performance is, let alone all the other things listed by that user. Believe it or not some people drive Porsches, Mercedes, Jaguars etc because they just absolutely love them and love the quality/performance of them, not because they are trying to be some shallow minded image junkie. And some folks just drive a car to get from point A to B and dont give a damn about image. The author is beyond silly to be such a stereotyping goofball know-it-all. What people drive is THEIR business and they drive those cars for their own reasons, maybe the few silly people want to give an image but most people dont care about image as much as performance, luxury, gas mileages, reliability, safety, etc.

The majority of these cars are unattainable for the average Joe.  Worthless article.

Any hybrid is driven by an idiot. They never pay back what they cost and  the gas savings and difference in emissions is negligible per 100,000 miles driven. If you trade the car in before 100,000 miles, you are an even bigger fool.

It isn't what you drive but how you drive it. I have been equally outraged by the conduct of a person driving a hybrid as I have by the person driving a Vette, Ranger, or Civic. The car does not matter at all, the way it is driven does.

Some cars are nothing more than extravagant examples of how much money people can throw at 4 wheels. Others are examples of how little a person can throw at a car  that still runs.

In the USA, we have some sort of idea that it is okay for poor people to drive unsafe cars that have mechanical needs that render them dangerous. This is a fallacy. If your car hits me in the rear because you have neglected to replace brake shoes or pads, you should pay for my damages AND have your car impounded. Driving is a privilege not a right. If you cannot maintain a car in a safe operating condition, don't drive it!

A BMW driver "considerate"?  LOL - reminds me of a favorite joke, ironically. Q: "What is the difference between a porcupine and BMW?" A: "With a porcupine, the pricks are on the outside."  Just notice - they're often aggressive and inconsiderate on the road.  I think the logic is, "I overpaid for my car, therefore I'm entitled to drive like a pretentious yuppy."  Obviously, this article's a bit ridiculous as this is a CAR and people will be people in any vehicle.  Just couldn't help but share when I read the Beemer personality!
