Ford will add buttons, knobs to its much-maligned MyFord Touch system.

They might as well be. But they only listed ten examples, not EVERY car over 600hp. There are plenty more that could be on this list, they just listed the most widely known ones.
What really amazes me is that these cars can reach these power levels while (mostly) getting over 20mpg on the highway.
I love GM, but I gotta say, they need to step it up now that the Stang has 650 horses. Time to crank up the boost!
@supercop - Mustangs have recieved significant upgrades in the past few years. A Boss 302 will smoke a BMW M3 in everyway besides interior refinement. (this includes gas mileage) The only legit argument against Mustangs is the lack of IRS but FORD has clearly made up for the solid rear with experience. As for your comment on the FORD motor company....FORD was the only american car company that did not accept a government bailout. Alan Mulally leveraged everything ford had in 2005 and managed to survive the great recession.
@Mr. 60652 - More often than not reckless drivers drive average or poor vehicles. Those who have over 400, 500 or 600hp (no matter if its modified or stock) know how to drive aggresively because if they didn't Darwin would eliminate them quite quickly and most often by themselves. You must have respect for that much power.
@ccinma? - The SSC is without a doubt faster than every version of the Veyron. However it has not been documented. The theoretical topspeed for it is 275mph...as a physicist I've done the numbers and I have no doubt that it could reach that speed.
@jan worth - If you're caught doing over 100mph and you don't have big breasts or are a very smooth talker you go directly to jail. You can actually be charged with terroristic threats with a vehicle at those speeds. Happened to me twice.
@Oceans11 - You are right. Besides the Mustang and Corvette, all these vehicles were built for exclusivity. However this is the 600hp club not the exclusivity club. Mustangs and Corvettes belong here more than those luxury vehicles. Having a lot of horsepower in a car isn't about making up for the extra ton of weight added by luxury. Its about going fast. The funny thing about that exclusivity club is that virtually none of them will ever use their vehicles to the full capability. A majority of them wouldn't even know how to do it unless they attended a manufacturers driver school.
So you have a 3000 pound car being moved by 100 hp and you have each hp moving 30 pounds with no people in the car, and more then likely that's the dry weight, no fuel. Get out into mountainous terrain (or just trying to merge onto the freeway) and you have the makings of a nightmare.
Take a look back to the mid 1990's as to what we had available mileage wise, there were Geos that got way into the 40 mpg range, if not higher. The ability to do it is there, the fact is that there is so much extra crap added to cars now seriously counteracts it.
As for a 600 hp car, let someone have it if they enjoy it.
To Supercop... The 2012 Shelby GT500 has the 550ph.
If you're not too lazy, Google the 2013 Shelby GT500. It has the 650hp motor, with loads of improvements. Or, buy the latest Motor Trend, Car & Driver, or Road & Track mags to give you some up-to-date insight.
Or...ask someone else more knowledgable than yourself!
Enjoy.
