We bought a new 2012 Subaru Impreza in May (Oregon). The dealership said there was a "shortage" of Impreza models due to the Fukashima neuclear disaster/tsumami which effected the Impreza production. They demanded over $23,000 for a hatchback with some extras (moonroof, mud splash guards, heated seats, cargo netting, etc.). The price was suppossed to be @ $20,000 but, NO.....if you want it, you gotta pay the price!! On top of that, we have NEVER registered the 35-36mpg highway rating (paid for the CVT for the "best" mpg)!!!!!! Usually, we get @ 30-31mpg mostly highway driving. Dealer said nothing to adjust for better mpg; we run recommended synthetic oil, still no great mpg. Otherwise, besides being a bit LOUD (transmission & engine/road noise), the car is fun to drive, comfortable, and efficient for a AWD vechicle. The ground clearance for the Impreza is a paltry 4 and one half INCHES......watch out for bumps, holes, or high curbs while parking!!! Also, don't lose your keys......costs @ $650 to replace keys!!!) , so said the "DEALER" in Klamath Falls, Oregon (Cascade Motors). Buyers BE AWARE.

What about my 6 week old 2013 Chrysler 300C AWD? handles great on any road and gets combination about 1/3 city and 2/3 highway driving and averages 26.5 mpg. Not too shabby for a full size car. Just city driving is 21-23.5 MPG, and straight highway is 28.5 to 29 MPG. I got rid of a 2006 Chrysler300CAWD hemi that did 17-18 city and 20-21max on the road. The big difference is the hemi had 385 HP and the new 2013 Chrysler 300C AWD is a 300 HP six cylinder with the new 8 speed tranny. Super fast enough on the highway, but not as fast as the Hemi off the line.
