The Prius? Really? It is slow, ugly, has a horrible ride, is uncomfortable, and corners terribly. Fail!

In my definition of "road tripping", I either have other people, dogs, or luggage or some combination of the three in the car.  I just don't understand some of your choices.  Some seem like they would be uncomfortable over time.  Some seem too small to be of use of a legit road trip.  Why in the world you picked a Chevy Cruze, Honda Fit, Kia Soul, or a Mazda Miata, I do not understand.  You understand the gas mileage alone is not the best criteria for road trips right?

My road trip includes 6 people, two pomeranians and luggage for a weeks vacation. Also its 1350 miles from Wi to Orlando, that's a road trip, so I need about three of these mini beaters to get the family there or one full size conversion van. Sure it get 17 mpg on highway  but for all that it carries it beats out any mileage you might get driving three cars. BTW after 14 hours of driving noone complains in a conversion van with recliners and a tv. Not going to put any one else down for their choices but your definition of a road trip needs to meet with your car choice.

This road trip that you imagined must be very short. Sitting in any of these vehicles after

a 240 mile four hour trip would make you dread the return trip home! I have driven many of

these small cars and all of them have the most uncomfortable seats. Fuel mileage is not

that big of a gap when driving 65/70 mph.  A Cruze gets 40/42 mpg  and a 300 gets 32/34 mpg

which driver will be more comfortable after a 300 mile trip? Which person will want to drive on

another hundred miles before stopping for a motel?

Do you know the person(s) who wrote this BS will never go on road trips in their cars.. lol funny people.. I would like them to go on those so called trips and take a family not just two people and go across country in most of those cars... I know my back and legs would be in pain for sure... the Honda fit , cruze are the jokes I really can not see me in one of those let alone the others... please write about things that make sense please ...

Some of these picks sound like a high-schooler picked them out.  I've gone on road trips in my wife's Scion xA and after 50 miles the seat is horrible, your back is hurting, and your legs are cramped.  Good gas mileage though, which seems to be the criteria for this article.  There is a reason people take "land yachts" for road trips, much more room and comfort compared to many of these compact and subcompact cars.

Oh, and I should probably add that there is plenty of utility/hauling space by putting down the rear seats and the hatchback makes loading and unloading easy.
