The cars that celebrities choose to buy sometimes border on the eccentric.

Haha, the Smart....no word of a lie, I would rather drive a 80's LeBaron 'vert with woodgrain on the sides than a Smart.
And anyone else think Mazda needs to step it up with the engine in the MX-5? I realize it's a small car, but only 167hp? They need to do a Speed version with the turbo motor from the MS3. Now THAT'd be a kick!
And I wouldn't call it "fuel efficient'. A 2.0L that only gets 28mpg highway isn't that efficient if you ask me. Considering the fact that the Stang V6 has 1.7L more displacement and 138 more hp, yet manages to best it by 3mpg hwy, that 28mpg is pretty poor.
Then consider that a 6 speed Vette with a 430hp 6.2L V8 can knock down 28mpg highway, and that MX-5 is a gas guzzler in comparison.
And call me biased, but for my money I'd pick up a used '00-'02 WS6 convertible for 10-12k and call it a day.
"Even if the faithful Miata were an additional $5,000 over its starting price of $23,470, it'd still be the no-brainer of this list."
What? I interpret that last remark to indicate that the author feels that the Miata is the best buy of the group of eight. My review differs tremendously, and shows both the Mini and Mustang as better products. Aesthetics, horsepower, transmission, fuel economy, cargo space, standard interior and exterior equipment, etc. I'd have a tough choice deciding between the Mini or Mustang, but would spend my U.S. dollars on Ford.
Seriously, what would possess someone to buy and drive a Smart Car? The end result of an accident in a Smart car - you will be playing a Harp and growing a set of wings. Its not worth saving a few penny's on gas. Any other option is a better option. Need more proof - see Smart Car Death - leaked video on U tube.
