I questions these cars as being great, but that's all opinion.  What bothers me more is that the author obviously isn't a car enthusiast, as some "facts" are wrong.

For instance, the Cobalt SS is "supercharged" not "turbocharged."  While the end result of both "charges" is increased power they are not the same thing.

Technically, a turbo is an exhaust driven supercharger.  So all turbos are superchargers.  But not all superchargers are turbos.

There's no such thing as a twin-screw turbo.

I too, remember all on the list and consider most of them to be in the wrong list! What about the Cadillac Allante?? Short lived (from '87 to '93) but way ahead of it's time. The '93 with the Northstar engine ate Mustangs for lunch! Let's publish a TRUE "Forgotten List"!

My take on this story is

GTO?  Yes BUT  the new GTO was a HUGE disappointment (I own a 66 and a 67) It was a flop from way before the first new version of one hit the showroom floor. a bland boring looking car that ran great and was fast. Few people want that . Buyers want a car that stands out and looks as good as it is fast.  I don't recall every seeing one on the road because they look like any other boring 4cyl car

Dodge Omni GLH-S (1986–87) Was in the same class as the Pinto and Vega !designed to be crap and were crap.

Acura NSX  just too expensive and looked like a compacted distorted  Vette, however they were neat cars. Just not neat enough...

Porsche 914-6 (1970–72)???  hahahahahahaha was and is JUNK! 300 steps below a VW Bug! (bugs were and are damn good cars and were used to build airplane, helicopters, Trike motorcycles, dune buggies, about 100 style sports car - kit cars and a whole lotta other things)

Dodge Omni GLH-S (1986–87)?  Although it was built for 2 model years , that was 20 years too long!
Ford SVT Contour (1998–2000) just slightly better than any other boring average car
Allard J2 (1949–52)?   Absolutely a sharp and fast car in it's day,  that's a desired classic today.

BMW 540i (1996–2003)?     decent looking car and BMW's usually run good but I never drove this one  so can not comment.

Aston Martin DB Mark III (1957–59)? kinda funny looking and not as good looking as they should be.  I never drove this model but enjoyed driving a DB5 which looks very similar

Mazda RX-7 (1984–85)? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Few people will get my comment.

Chevrolet Cobalt SS (2008–10)?  Nah! Build a car that's either a performance car or a cheap car, They failed in that attempt before with the Corvair, Vega, Cavalier and a few others. Few people want to buy the low priced car  and pay extra to make it high performance. you can put a designer dress on a pig, but it's still a pig!

I have no idea what  the last car  is nor do  I care. I'd rather walk than drive puke like that

I cant believe the dodge stealth or the Mitsubishi 3000gt were not included in this article. Years ahead of their time. I own a 95 stealth R\T, and still in 2012 it turns heads.  Everyone allways asks what is that? 160k miles on her, and will still do 160mph+ not bad for a 17 year old car.

Yup the only Two cars worth mentioning were the 914 and the RX7. The others not so much. There are way to many other cars that have been forgotten. Triumph 1974 Spitfire is one that comes to mind. And another was the small Honda 1990 CRX. I owned one and that lil car was faster than many thought. With some minor changes. And sorry I prefer a 1965 Pontiac GTO over the newer pontiac's any day.
