Well Klaus, apparently your unfamiliar with hybrid tech.. For instead Hyundai's sonata electric engine will work at an speed- Due to a single transmission for both motors. It's regenerated with decelerating or braking. Which leads me to suggest that the author dropped the ball by not including it in this list. Not just this article, but their last previous article as well. Hyundai and LG chem. also developed the first polymer lith. battery used in the sonata. Also, Klaus, hybrids ring fuel consumption and emissions down...it doesn't drive anything up.

What I can't figure out, it must be a typo, is that I have never heard of a car getting better gas mileage in the city vs. gas mileage on the highway. That doesn't make any sense at all...Speaking of the weird little Lexus CT 200h. 43 city, vs. 40 highway? I don't think so.....
Hybrid cars use their electric motors as primary at speeds below 35 mph, most city traffic is 35 mph or below. If you have a highway commute everyday, it makes absolutely no sense to drive a hybrid over a regular car, it's cost prohibitive.Aug 16, 2011 6:15PM

This type of cars will not become mainstream in any of our lifetimes. This is a huge scam, just like adding alcohol to our fuel made from corn. The only thing it's done is drive up the cost of our food supply.
Don't think all the beverage companies are using sugar instead of corn syrup to be cool and retro, or be more healthy; sugar is becoming cheaper to use, and they're phasing out corn syrup to keep cost down, and profits up.
