Do you know how I taught my son to drive?  I told him - "Assume all other drivers are idiots and keep a sharp eye out for all of them".  You have to be a defensive driver now a days.

I- wonder- if...the driver just lost his/her job?

...the driver just lost his/her home?

...the driver just lost his/her family?

...the driver just lost his/her child?

...the driver just heard bad news about his/her health?

...the driver just lost  his/her best friend, their pet?

...the driver is a teenager who is hurting?

I wonder if this statement could be true? "Kindness is a language we all understand. Even a blind man can see it and a deaf man can hear it."

Drive Wise! And, thank you for all the times you were kind to me on the road.

I wonder whether the genius who decided cell phones should be made available to the vastly irresponsible and self-centered public ever thought that they would go down as a major player in society's demise.  The sad thing, people use cell phones while operating one ton steel machinery at 60-80 MPH to talk about a bunch of nothing and stuff that could totally wait untill they got to the home/or office.  I was once riding with a friend that got so distracted by text messages that she stopped in the middle of the intersection to read one while making a left turn.  The important news?  Her friend was texting her from work this update: "I am so bored."  I know there are very few out there remaining who agree with me, but I wish we could go back in time and not give so many people access to this destructive technology.

I just got back from driving in Germany on the Autobahn for 2 weeks totaling 4,403 kilometers. I'd say 95% of the time I never had any problems with other cars just the semis pulling in the left lane. If you are in the left hand lane you are most likely driving 160km or more. When you are in the left lane and the cars ahead of you are driving slower they immediately move over because they are aware of other drivers around them. Not like here in the good ol' USA, here the moron in left hand lane refuses to move because they think they are going fast enough. If you flash the beams or get too close to their bumper they slam on the brakes! We could never have the Autobahn in the US because let's face it, MOST OF US ARE BAD DRIVERS. I have been guilty of hanging in the left lane and after driving over seas it's a refresher for what real courtious driving should be.

Maybe there would not be so much "ROAD RAGE" if every driver would read the Universal Drivers Manual at least once or twice a year to refresh themselves with the rules of the road.  How many of us have read the manual for our drivers license exam, but studied it  just enough so we could pass the written part of the test?  I don't know too many people that could memorize all those rules and regulations.  Therefore, it is imperative that we keep ourselves up to date by re-evaluating our driving skills and knowledge on a yearly (semi) basis.

Also, here's a tip to "The JerseyBoy" (and anyone else FYI), about left lane exits from the highway.  Most exit guide signs have an advance sign  followed by another advance sign, which should lead up to a thrid sign which is usually the exit.  If the exit sign is located on the "TOP RIGHT" of the guide sign, then the exit will be on the "RIGHT SIDE" of the highway.  Likewise, if the exit sign is located on the "TOP LEFT" of the guide sign, then the exit will be on the left side of the highway.  I found this info to be very helpful by allowing me enough time to maneuver into the respective lane sooner instead of waiting until the last moment.

Please all drivers remember no place is worth rushing to if you are going to end up dead on arrival.

What I still find incredible is all those jerks that act like idiots get even more furious when you blow the horn after they pull out in front of you or cut you off. They flip you off as if it was your fault or you got in their way.  The curse and threaten and show their upbringing by their actions and that is the kind of society we've become, "It is everyone elses fault".  No honor in taking the blame for your own mistakes, blame it on the other guy.  America is going to hell in a handbag.  This isn't the country I fought for in Vietnam or the Gulf War and spent 24 years of my life defending.

Road Rage is growing at a higher rate, because of a lot of reasons, but there is 0 tolerance anymore for people in general.  There is a lot of good people in the world but somewhere we have lost something, even respect for life. Yes I have been in that situation myself of being cut-off or worse, and I wanted to take action or someone that has no respect for speed or the darn cell phone stuck in there ear.

Laws are good things, but if not enforced it does not make a difference.  There are laws for driving drunk, and people still do it.  So rage over the road, job, or partner, just adds to it all. Once respect for people is lost what else to you expect.  How many people even stop anymore to give someone a hand on the side of the road, or even care.  Take it from there

About the Autobahn in the US, I was recently driving in Utah and the speed limit there is 80 mph!  No one was "hanging out" in the passing lane there, and maybe because the higher speed limit was intimidating.  I used to work for an Italian-owned company.  When I was driving w/ the owner in Miami, he couldn't believe the people in the passing lanes oblivious to the traffic around them.  In Europe they understand the fast-lane concept for some reason.  If people here would understand that the person pushing on you isn't being rude...they just want to pass and move on!  It's just polite to move over:)

The whole problem is the passing lane!!!  Isn't it for PASSING??!!  That's how I learned to drive!  I live in Phoenix and it's horrible here because more than 50% of the drivers never get out of the passing lane.  They aren't even getting up to the speed limit most of the time but they won't move.  If you don't want to be tailgated, then drive in the center or right-hand lanes where slower traffic is SUPPOSED to drive.  How hard is that to get??  Why can't it be an enforceable law, and road rage would almost completely end?!

If people just learn the rules of the road, (designed for slow and fast drivers alike) things would run smoothly. Cant everyone just get along !!!!
