please do not only turn your back, pack your bags and move. there was a time in the 70's when the "big three" fell behind. but make no mistake, the cars are equal in todays market. capitalism is based on supply & demand! here in the states everyone prefered the huge suv's. that is until the days of the cheap gas came to a head. now its all about the econoboxes again! i feel we should impose huge tarriffs on all those imports as they do to all of our exports! you do whats best for you. i can only hope that you would take the time to research the matter first.

I will never buy another GM car again. I wanted an EV-1 and I wanted to own it. It was never offered in New York and you could never own it. If GM wants to build the EV-1 again I will THINK about buying GM again. Otherwise I will be waiting for GM to go out of business.
We need a new American car company building cars American wants. I want and Electric Car and it needs to go 55 MPH and 100 Miles Range without a gas engine. If the Japanese can do it great. If Ford can great.

If Americans cars are so great then why are people not buying them except through rebates, gimmicks and low prices. Ford is the exception because of their common use platforms shared with Mazda and Volvo. If you remembered the old days you had a big ass fuel guzzling V6 or V8 that produced 200Hp that can be done today much more efficiently with a smaller 6 cylinder motor. Don't forget those bias ply tires on those hotrods which made the car float and all that horse power that was only good driving in a straight line. In todays cars it means getting as much horsepower from a smaller engine that has great handling and stopping power. Mercedes, BMW, Audi leads the way and the Japanese cars leads it by technology and reliability. All Fords hybrids are technologies licensed through Toyota. The big three are just scambling to catch up. We must sit back and see if the Chevy Volt lives up to expectation. If Americans travelled to Europe you will be amazed by the cars built by Peugot, Citroen, Fiat and the list goes on. Why not look in the web for these overseas manufactures and see what they sell now instead of sitting in your broken down gas guzzling pickups in your front lawn gorging on your hambuger and french fries. America wake up its time to see what the rest of the world has to offer. I my self was burnt may times buying domestic from the big three, now I must turn my back on them and buy imports.

I wouldn't say wacky.. these cars are creative. They are futuristic.
Something I would hope people these days would appreciate. I really
hope people seriously aren't still going by the definition that to be
purchasable a car has to make loud sounds and make the person look
"cool".
Because if we haven't moved past that it's no wonder people don't buy American cars as much as they would if people just made a car that got good MPG, STILL looked good, but was a representation of the future, not just a close minded echo of the past.

People, I know that "american " cars are beautiful, they are good and everything, but, if Germany , Opel , 10,000 cut off jobs only in Germany, Isuzu engines, Daewoo , Mexico , Canada , if none of those words , which I hope you know what they are, does not ring a bell on you , then you don't know anything about "american" cars. At least, japanese car company are opening factories in the U.S. , which means jobs, others are doing the opposite , now, if you talk about american cars from probably circa 1999 and back , those were the real american cars made in Mexico and Canada....still, now probably some cars are made here. And don't forget about the culture of other countries. When making an opinion you have to take certain things in consideration before puking your thoughts.

American cars are by far the best ever. I.E. If you take a look at automotive history we cant leave well enough alone. Id like to see a hotrod compared to lets say a 32 Ford roadster that has the beauty style value and so on in any import on the planet......hmmm thayll never happen, I cant imagine a prius worth what a 32 roadster in worth today or in the forseeable future by AMERICAN after all the FOREIGNERS only try to copy what we mastered long long ago..........to hell with imports unless they haul ass
