Get your facts straight dude GMC didnt know they were gunna file for bankruptcy you stu and its the goverments falt they had to because the us gov didnt tax forign manufacturer in the early 70's to bring cars over that wernt made over here even though forign taxed us heavily. so they could bring over there crappy hondas and toyotas and sell them dirt cheap and eventually put hard working americans out of jobs because the factorys arnt over here. not to mention **** cars supposidly "last longer" which is a joke cuz you have to replace so much little stuff it all adds up into big money and **** ARE SLOW

mac addict,

Yes, there are  "modded" cars that can break 200 mph, and thus those cars do not "qualify" as they are not stock and not exotics (and many modded cars are not as "refined" as exotics and tend to require more "driver work" to get upto 200) ....however, a heavily modded  Mustang GT is a POOR choice to break 200 mph with... because of poor  aerodynamics and more importantly lack of aerodynamic stability at 200 mph make the Mustang a poor choice.  A better choice would be the Ford Probe (early mid 1990's)... or a 3rd gen Trans-Am GTA... (do NOT use a 4th Gen, the 4 gen's TA's are NOT as stable as the 3rd gens....ACTUALLY THE CURRENT LAND SPEED RECORD FOR  A "PRODUCTION BASED" CAR IS A 1991 TRANS-AM AT BONNEVILLE... 303 MPH. The 4th gen Trans-Am lacks the longtidudinal stability of the 3rd gen Trans-Am, even though the 4th gens are faster than the 3rds...(excluding the 20th Aniv TA model). All of the aforentioned cars would have to have their hoods reinforced and weather strip removed near the firewall except for the 6th gen Vette...  Just to let you know, even though the 6th gen plain corvette (which you named a mid-life crises car) is a much better choice than a GT Mustang would be... as it takes only 470 rear wheel hp for the Vette to reach 200 versus about 700 rear wheel hp for a GT Mustang to hit 200, and the Mustang would require a better suspension and aftermarket ground effects to be truely safe at 200 mph; the corvette would NOT require any ground effects or any other body mods to make it safe at 200.  You could still call it a modded 200+ mph mid-life-crisis car if you wished though.  I do think they should have included the FORD GT on this list... I agree with you there.  It's a true off the floor 205 to 207 mph exotic...

Buy a gmc rig, not on your life. Robbing the tax payers to fund the union and goverment run company, you must be brain dead. The gov is to work for us, not the reverse. Dig your heads out.

Patrick.

We are talking stock production cars here. Not modded cars.

I can take a mustang gt, mod it, and hit over 200 mph.

Does that make it a super car? Nope.

plywood,

Was that a production car?

I don't think so.

Mejoe,

The corvette is nothing more than an overrated, mid-life crisis car.

What happened to the 05', 06' Ford GT's?

They can hit over 200 mph, and do 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Isn't that one of the 10 fastest  production cars on the planet?

The GT would blow away half the cars in this list.

Ford was robbed!!!!!!

to the guys who will not buy a GMC because of gov't bailout. now when you buy a Gmc you really support America. I love my Vettes and my Gmc trucks, not to mention our chevy powered offshore boats. if you want to talk about gov't bailouts, you must mention almost every Japanese company that existed since 1945. The U.S. bailed out all of Japan after WW2
