This article is ridiculous. Firstly, at least here in Colorado very few will buy two wheel drives trucks because of our winters and they easily get stuck; front wheel drive cars do better in the snow. Secondly, because of our elevation 4 cylinder engines just won't do it except in the city. You need at least a V-6 to get through the mountains. That said, I've owned both a Chevy Silverado and a Colorado and both of them got around 15 MPG. I finally got tired of pouring gas into both of them a got a Honda Ridgeline. The numbers say 15 and 20 MPG. However, those are understated. I get around 18 MPG in the city and about 27 on the highway. I really don't know how they come up with those numbers, but I'm sure it doesn't take in geographic considerations. And finally, many people no longer desire to drive manuel trannys, especially in the city. I believe 90% of truck owners now opt for auto trans. The writer of this article needs to do a real-world write up.

The 3.8 litre V-6 that GM put into millions of Olds, Pontiacs, Buicks and Chevys is by far the best engine ever made since the 350. I get 35 mpg with mine and that's with regular non ethanol.
These trucks mileage is pitiful. Especially at $4 a gallon. In another few years all gas sold in the US will be 65% ethanol and we will all be buying something new in which to burn it.

these gas mileages all stink out loud if we are going to pay 4-6 dollars a gallon for gas or diesel these trucks should get at the minimum 25 mpg city and highway with all the technology and smart people building these trucks I know it can be done . WAKE UP AMERICA YOUR GOVERNMENT IS DRIVING ALL OF US INTO THE GROUND

i dont know why people turn to jap cars and trucks for reliability, the very rarely make it over a million miles and if they do they are totally shot. the 7.3 and 5.9 diesels go over a million all the time, they both have huge highmilage clubs for this, and when they do they are still making great power!
