Ever since Car and Driver did a comparision on hybrids vs the VW diesel. There is no question what I would buy. Don't have to worry about the battery dying and diesels run for a long time on practically anything. Better yet the comparision showed the diesel ran just as clean as the hybrid.

Where are the Buicks.  have had 2000 and newer Century and 2005 Lesabre  All get  30 or more.  in fact the leSabre has gotten 33 miles per gal  paid less than $10,000 for one with 50,000 miles.  No problems with it either

Most Americans wouldn't be caught dead in a high mileage car. We have to have that big gas guzzlers, hence the reason we're at the mercy of Big Oil and our economy flucuates due to the cost of oil. Hell, us Americans will take food from the table and our childrens mouths and give it to Big Oil.
I myself, don't have a problem with any of them. 40-52mpg I'd be tickled, my old 98' 626 gets around 30-32mpg but alas the OD has recently gone out, and guess who made the trans? Ford...

I dare you to purchase one of these cars anywhere near your stated prices. I will keep my paid for 2002 Cavalier and happily drive by these torture chambers in four door 30 mpg comfort.
