I bet you couldn't find one of these with less than 120k on them and not have been in a wreck for these prices. The stock photos don't reflect the true condition of these cars now with some of them 10 + years on them. If you throw out a hope for someone at least show then what one of these examples looks like now not as they were new. One more comment on these prices if you can afford to pay this for any of the cars on the list go buy a newer used car with a small loan payment. It would be criminal not to buy a better car with newer technology, lower miles and better safety features. I also doubt a bank would give you a loan for one of these fuel efficient antiques.

It wasn't so long ago that you had list of used cars not to buy. If memory serves me correctly some of the cars on this list were on that list also.

That list contains some of the most uncomfortable and unreliable ( and likely unsafe) cars ever made. They may be cheap and fuel efficent, but almost nobody would want to own most of them!

Once again, I notice no American vehicles in this line-up.  Having a family that has owned many different model years of Ford Focus.  I can count 11 Focus vehicles in our family over the last 13  years.  All have been great mpg, and reliable vehicles.   Yet, once again the stigma the media conveys lives on...

The Chevy Cobalt wasn't on your list but is superior to several on it. Mine is trouble-free, gets good gas mileage and has more hp than the corolla. And it's made in the USA!

Spouse drives an Echo, 2001, gets around 40-42 mpg highway and has over 200,000 miles. Will drive it for a while yet as it is holding up well

My 2007 Mazda 3 got about 28 in town, and 35 hwy. On long trips, it would get over 40mpg hwy.
