Mazda says the next-generation Mazda6 sedan will take its styling cues from the Takeri concept, shown.
Mazda used the New York Auto Show on Wednesday to announce its plan to produce a new Mazda6 sedan for the 2014 model year. The new Mazda6 will benefit from a "full suite of SkyActiv technologies," Mazda said.
SkyActiv is Mazda's brand name for gasoline and diesel engines and multispeed transmissions engineered to reduce fuel consumption. Mazda said the design of the new sedan "will be strongly influenced by the Takeri concept," according to a press release. The Takeri concept was first shown at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.
