How can a list of ANY kind of legendary automobiles not include a Thunderbird?
As a kid, growing up (born in 1956), I was always told a story by my relatives, but I never quite knew if it was true.
My dad recently passed away and while going through some of his personal belongings ( old family records) I came across the actual, original paperwork to verify the story.
In 1954 the local Chevrolet dealership in Charleston W.Va. was having a contest and giving away a brand new 1954 Corvette. My grandmother who was already in her late forties, (and) had no drivers license, won the Corvette.
However, my grandfather couldn't drive the Corvette stick shift, because he only had one leg ( from an industrial accident) and asked for an alternative prize. So, instead of the 1954 Corvette as the prize, the dealership gave them a 1955 2 door coupe and a 1955 4 door sedan as the grand prize.
It was such a great thing to find amongst the records.
Thought I'd share my story.
These articles are just getting more crappy. A VW bus?? How about a bug convertible instead? Oh well of course you could have had room if you didn't put the mustangs and Camaros in there TWICE!
TR-6 or spitfire? Old Cadillacs are legendary, not brand new cars. Get a grip!
He just summed it up, "it's a damn fine automobile".
