This is a very lame article, most race cars and production cars share practically nothing at all.

alms(american le mans series)- corvette, viper, 911.   wtcc (world touring car championships) -cruze, civic, 3 series.   grx(global rally cross) -dart, focus, impreza.    pretty much, if it rolls, someone will make a race car out of it.

Is this article your idea of a joke? The production cars have almost NOTHING in common with these race cars. In some cases (NASCAR) they have absolutely nothing in common with the procuction car....not the powertrain, not the unibody construction, not the electronics, not even the glass or a single body panel.

NASCAR  race cars have a decal that is similar in look to the grill of the car they are supposed to represent, That is the only thing they share. That is why NASCAR no longer generates brand loyalty. The cars have no relation whatsoever to the production car they purport to represent on the track. It is so safe now a child could drive one of the cars. BORING SNOOZEFEST THAT SELL YOU A THOUSAND PRODUCTS A SECOND. Isle of Man TT = real men, real competition, real danger, almost no prize money, only men willing to die to be called the fastest.

I wonder if the author of this article has been to a race.  Let alone inside the paddock.  The difference between production racing cars and production cars are night and day.

There is a HUGE difference between full-on race cars and a cars you can buy at a dealer. Don't let anyone fool you into to believing anything else in order to sell you more expensive overpriced cars.

This article is a borderline "scam alert".

Ha, now most every A-hole who owns a civic is going to be like"I got's me a race car".
Then is going to spend their whole budget putting useless crap on it that makes it anoying to look at.
Its like im living the F&F all over.

There are three American cars missing from this incomplete list, first the Corvette racing team from American Le mans series this team has won the legendary 24 hour Le Mans race more than any team, secondly the Viper racing team Corvette's chief rival and the Roush Mustang racing team. As you might have noticed MSN seems to want to notice the Japanese cars before recognizing the cars that started racing which are the American and Europeans.
