Really? Like people didn't already know that dealers charge crazy amounts of money for the simplest things.
True story:
I took my vehicle to a dealer for an oil change. I know it's easy. I just didn't want to do it. Afterwards, I got the standard "your air filter and wiper blades needs to be changed" and then the usual "they are almost ready to fall apart'.
Everyone should have seen the look on this guys face when I replied, "oh really, that's odd. I must've bought used parts at the parts store because I just changed those two things last week". Needless to say, our conversation was over and I have never been back to that dealer again. I'll just stick with changing the oil myself.
I work on my on cars and trucks whenever I can, But this article left out some facts:
Sometimes you"ll need a lot more knowledge and tools than this article gives to change your battery. The battery isn't easy to get at and sometimes the cables are corroded and/or the bolts/clamps won't come off easily. The mount to hold the battery down can have the same corrosion.
That cabin filter isn't easy to get to in some cars at all.
The light bulbs and head lights are somtimes a major disassembly to even get at them.... On some models and makes I'd swear they built the car around the light bulb.
If you are going to do some of these repairs look at the repair book by Haynes, or some other book for your car and decide if it's too much for you to handle.
