I agree completely. I am a Toyota tech. Formerly a GM tech. Changing your battery can cause you serious problems. Besides the possibility of radio lockout and that you will loose all presets/bluetooth/settings etc there is also window relearn and other pains in the **** if you go dead. Have you tried changing the bulb in a new chev/gmc truck. You have to pull the grill bumper assembly. We install high quality rubber wiper inserts on factory Toyota cars and charge .1 I've seen the after market p.o.s. air/cabin filters. there is a reason the factory orig is more expensive. IT IS A BETTER PRODUCT. Sorry some people just don't understand unless you shout at them. I've put CR(n)APA brake parts on and inevitably the customer is back 6 months later complaining about a pulse. To whomever wrote this article. This is not the the 70's. Even the base cars are now very sophisticated pieces of equipment. Please do not write any more articles about car repair.
To illustrate a point. Tow in arrives. No start. I diag it. Go to the customer and tell him it's his radio. I of course get the look that I am a complete idiot. He had an after market radio. the security bypass module had failed and the security system thought the car was being broken into because it could not talk with the radio so therefore someone is trying to steal the car so therefore I (the car) won't start. This is what 99.99% of the people who drive today don't understand when they say my car won't start, what do you think it is? It could be freakin anything and no I can't look under the hood and tell you what the problem is.
there are too many people who would need to call 911 after trying to scratch their own butts that think the mechanic who has more than $100,000.00 in tools invested to work on their over priced fashion statements is too expensive for them,
but when their own excuse for what they get paid far more comes up in a discussion, they're worth the fortune and even more according to them.
the country has lost its perspectives and can't figure out why the country is bankrupt,
the average person is willing to empty their pockets and bank accounts for their entertainment and fashion,
but when they need something done that they're not willing to do themselves,
the people willing to do that work are too expensive and expecting too much.
what makes anyone worth more than the person who has decades working in a trade just because they spent a couple to a few years of drunken dorm and spring break parties.
that is the sole reason why the country's economy is and has been in the toilet.
