i must say something about the toyota tundra. here in texas, they are nearly as numerous as fords or chevys. they are beastly and they run all day. however, they have been around for two generations or a dozen years or more. id say thats staying power. now the t-100 is a different story. thats the truck for this story.

Tundra REALLY, I have had several cars in 31 years of driving from Vettes to Mercedes bought a Tundra in 08 by far the finest vehicle I have owned. Look forward to driving it everyday has 68000 miles not the first problem. ITS A BEAST.
Owned a Dodge but the rear end went out the first year traded it and lost my rear end again. Nothing against the others but love my Tundra.

I own a 2001 Tundra, which, according to this article, is six years ahead of the Tundra's introduction. It's been a great truck and I've owned it much longer than any other American made truck I've had (yes, they're made in the US). I don't know anyone who owns one that doesn't like it. How it appears in this article as a flop along with the Edsel and Vega is puzzling.
