A VW on this list, really? If you got a Passat with VW's 2.0L I4 turbo engine, it's going to break down before it reaches even 50k. Because the gasket seals are such low quality and the engine burns so hot, the 2.0L engine pretty much eats oil, and needs an oil change almost once a month, especially in really hot weather. How a car that leaks oil by design and burns up so quickly could possibly make it to 200k miles is beyond me. Every VW that uses this engine, including the Jetta, Passat, Golf, CC, Tiguan, Audi A3, A4, all suffer from this problem.

No mentioning of Honda Odyssey? Well, I put over 200K on mine in 7.5 years, and it's still going strong! Our Civic is about 20K shy of 200K, it's been on the road for 6 years. Both of these cars were purchased new. Recently we added CR-V to our Honda family, I am sure some day it will celebrate its 200K mark. Go HONDA!!!

Any car/truck/moto/van/wagon etc. will last as long as it's been well maintained. Engines today will last well over 200,000 miles without needing a serious re-build and most diesel engines with get nearly twice that. The problem is always nobody taking care of simple maintenance; fluids, belts, bushings, hoses, ball-joints, tie-rod ends, fuel/brake lines, etc. Transmissions and transfer cases are equally as reliable if properly maintaned.

A friend owned a 2012 Accord and it was nothing but trouble, she was told by service people and Honda that it was normal for the car to burn 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles it ran, it broke down twice and after she had it for 25000 miles Honda refused to admit it was having a problem. She sold it and bought a Malibu, no trouble with it. Her concern was over the lousy response from Honda and their refusal to deal with the problem.

I think a lot of it is how you drive and maintain your vehicle.I would stay away from German vehicles.GM products dont impress me either, theres a reason they needed to be bailed out.(lousy product)
Everyone should think hard about living with really pricey gas(more than now)in the future. The MPG of what you drive should be considered.I continue to be amazed at all the people who are crazy about pickup trucks, unless you really use it as a truck its a lousy form of transportation, and hard on gas. I keep hearing about small cars with diesels coming?
