Cadillac SRX Recalled for Airbag Fix
GM's recall of the 2011 SRX covers 50,500 vehicles in North America, 47,000 in US.
The recall affects 47,401 vehicles in the United States, with the remainder in Canada and Mexico. GM said there are no reports of crashes or injuries related to the issue.
The recall covers SRXs in North America only because that is where the automatic occupant-sensing system is used. Export models use a key to disable the passenger-side airbag.
GM said the SRX is programmed to turn off the passenger-side, roof-rail airbag when it detects an occupant in the front passenger seat. But the owner's manual says that airbag will deploy whether or not the seat is occupied.
The mismatch violates federal safety standards. GM says dealers will reprogram the car's airbag control unit to remedy the problem.
Cadillac SRX sales have increased 18 percent through the first five months of 2011, to 22,249 units.

Love my SRX. No problem for me, I will get the reprograming during my next oil change.
GM is making some awesome vehicles now and my 2 are excellent quality and have never been back to the dealership except for routine service. Way to go GM.
Hey Michelle, I think you have that WRONG ! The SRX is programmed to turn ON the pass.-side, roof-rail airbag when it detects someone in the front passenger seat !!!!!!
You only WRITE for a living, huh?! Leave the cars to the boys who know what their talking about!
@Mr.Fixital: We the REAL working class know that it's not a problem for you. That's nice. After all, WE THE TAXPAYERS ARE FRONTING THE MONEY FOR THAT RE-PROGRAMMING!!!
I have owned Fords for 25 years now, and I too, have only had my Ford back to the dealership for routine mantenance.
Oh, and BTW, my manuf. didn't need a bailout skip. Maybe the next time you go in for your service, you can tell the dealership to not bill you, since we already paid for it!!!
GO ROMNEY 2012!! NO BAILOUTS FOR BANKRUPT COMPANIES!!!
