This Is What 1,400 Horsepower Racing to the Top of a Mountain Looks Like

Pikes Peak awesomeness is almost upon us.

By Joshua Condon Jun 21, 2012 9:37AM
Ah, it's that time of year again -- the lead-up to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, when I get to post awesome videos of heavy-duty machinery going like hell on test runs to the top of the winding, 12.42-mile course. In this case, we're watching Paul Dallenbach driving an aptly named Unlimited-class machine, an open-wheeled monster with a 1,400-horsepower Chevrolet mill from Banks Power.

It's loud, violent and so insanely fast that at one point one of the car-mounted cameras makes a run for it from sheer terror. Enjoy.
