Toyota Shooting Again for No. 1 Sales Crown
After losing to VW last year, the Japanese automaker raises its sales forecast to nearly 9 million cars.
A report from the Japanese financial news service Nikkei said that Toyota originally had planned to sell 8.65 million cars, but that Japanese government subsidies for hybrids and stronger U.S. sales pushed executives to make more aggressive forecasts. In July, sales of Toyota, Lexus and Scion together rose 36.6 percent year-over-year, while global sales for the first half of this year (4.97 million) were up 34 percent, according to Reuters. General Motors, by contrast, saw only a 2.9 percent increase, to 4.67 million, while Volkswagen rose by 8.9 percent, to 4.45 million.
Of course, most, if not all, of Toyota's large increases can be attributed to the company rebounding from the devastating Japanese earthquake and tsunami, which curbed sales for months. Toyota hasn't gone back on its promises, either. Last year, the company proclaimed it would sell 10 million cars by 2015. The Volkswagen Group -- which includes seven other brands, including today's final purchase of Porsche -- is aiming just as high. It sold 8.16 million last year, besting Toyota, and is on track for nearly 9 million this year, in no small part to increased U.S. sales and production.

I have yet to read a valid argument why not to buy their products. You guys make up crap like how dangerously unsafe their vehicles are, how, it's ruining America, blah, blah blah. The truth is, if you were educated enough on how our economy works and how important a strong global economy is to our own economy's survival, you could actually comment without looking like a fool.
Can any of you dolts tell us why it's OK to buy from Detroit when thousands of the dollars from your purchase gets sent to foreign countries for labor and parts but it's not OK to buy an American made, foreign car that sends a few thousand to Japan but pumps the vast majority of that money into the U.S. economy??? I actually have a friend that owns a Toyota dealership and know for a fact how much Japan gets for each sale, You dorks don't, as is obvious from your writings.
Toyota alone directly employs about 30,000 Americans but is indirectly responsible for over 300,000 Americans receiving their paychecks, and that's just Toyota, add Nissan, Honda and Subaru and you are talking about close to a million US jobs.
The average $25k Toyota made by Americans contributes almost $23k to our economy. Same holds true for domestics. There is no difference, PLEASE, PLEASE get up to speed or stop the stupid comments. If you only knew how ignorant it makes you look....
If you guys would like to live in a country where the government decides what products you can buy, then by all means, please go there! Take your hatred, racism and ignorance with you as well. You are not wanted here with those of us that understand economics and don't hate people.
While you are eating crow over the above statements, would you please also explain why it is OK for GM to force us to loan them money and before they even pay it back they are building their FIFTH Chinese factory??? This is OK to you guys??? Really?? They took a loan from us and are creating hundreds of thousand of Chinese jobs with it. Nice.
You see....it doesn't bother me that GM is building a bigger empire in foreign countries than they have here. It contributes to a strong global economy, which actually helps us. It DOES however bother me that they cried a river about going broke, took a loan from us tax payers to supposedly survive and then used that money to create foreign jobs before paying it back. You go right ahead and support that kind of activity but slam Toyota for doing the exact same thing.
And, while you are enjoying your hypocrisy, have you removed all of the foreign products in your homes yet and replaced them with American made ones??? Didn't think so.
Please don't respond with your same old, same old untruths. Answer the above questions for us K?
forsty frosty frosty.......same old BS. Now, I get about a 3rd of the way and just lose interest with your non sense. Your just boring now. I buy from American companys that make their products in America when I have the choice because it matters, it`s a pride thing that I have with my country, where I live, something that you just don`t get, or maybe you do, which is even more troubling.
By the way, where were you when the latest massive Toyota recall was announced here on MSN??? Let me guess.........at Walmart looking for imported goods.
Just sayin...... you guys need some new material, some with some facts in it this time please?
