Newer Non-GM Vehicles Adding Aftermarket OnStar Product
Ford, Toyota owners are most likely to add OnStar FMV replacement mirror.
When GM’s OnStar introduced its aftermarket FMV (For My Vehicle) product last year, it meant that owners of almost any car made in the past 20 years could add certain features of the service to their vehicle. These include Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Assistance and more.
You would think that most car owners adding OnStar FMV would own older vehicles without a lot of modern electronics. But according to OnStar, owners of 2011 model-year vehicles were the most likely to purchase and install OnStar FMV, followed by owners of model-year 2007 and 2012 vehicles.
OnStar also says that owners of Toyota vehicles made up 15.6 percent of OnStar FMV sales so far this year. Ford owners were No. 2, at 12.3 percent. OnStar says that more than 30 percent of Ford vehicles that had an FMV mirror installed also had Ford’s popular Sync system, which has a 911 Assist feature that’s similar to OnStar’s Automatic Crash Response.
OnStar also announced that, for a limited time, FMV will be available for $99.99, including installation. (It's regularly $299.99, plus installation.) The special is “timed specifically around the Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduation gift-buying seasons,” and the promotion will run from May 6 through June 16. In addition to the cost of mirror, to get the services requires a subscription to one of two plans that are either $18.95/month or $199/year or $28.90/month or $299/year.

When we got to the site they were telling the driver that we had indeed showed up.
It was realy nice, we were not in the dark as to what we were responding to like most of them.
After that I have it in both cars, and will have it in my sons when we get it.
