Reminds me of Detroit rebadging.

EVERY automaker plays the rebadge game. It is not exclusive to America as Japan and Europe does the exact same thing.

A Honda Accord with a V6 engine will give you the same gas mileage & is a much larger, faster & more comfortable car. It is also cheaper if you can bargain.

God knows what Acura will charge for a TL ?

Wow.  $26,000+ for a Civic in Acura clothes?  Yes, it looks a  little nicer, but other than that, it's a Civic - right down to the powertrain.  The import crowd will buy a few of these, but the most educated of them will see it for what it is - a gussied up Civic.  This car is further proof that HONDA/ACURA has lost all direction and is now simply reaching at straws.  This car would have NEVER been approved back when HONDA knew what it was doing.  Over the last decade or so, the once innovative car company has become almost a Japanese GM - chasing trends and market research over creative engineering.  The quality has slipped, the styling has gone from "bland yet inoffensive" to the Japanese version of the late '90s Pontiac.  I've owned three Acuras and an Accord.  i used to love HONDA, but times change, and unfortunately, HONDA didn't.  They need to wake up.

Does Honda really think that just by putting the Acura logo in the middle of the steering wheel people are going to be willing to pay $4,000 more for this Civic over the rest of the Civic line-up?  Considering this is a copy of the  current Civic, which is the worst built Civic in two decades, I don't think it makes it worthy to be an Acura.

Not sure how anyone that knows anything at all about cars could compare an Acura to a Civic.

I'm not sure how anyone that knows anything at all about cars WOULDN'T compare this Acura to a Civic.....because IT IS a Civic, comes off the Civic assembly line and uses a Civic drive train.  DUH!  And by the looks of it a lot of the body panels are shared with the Civic.  Just like a Lexus ES350 is just a Toyota Camry pig with lipstick on it and a Lexus LX is the same as a Land Cruiser.....because they are.

Just another badge engineering job that is only another over-priced version of the Civic and comes off the same assembly line in Indiana.  And we already know how badly panned the 2012 Civic has been.  So bad that Consumer Reports removed it from their recommended list.  It even uses the Civic engine.  So why buy the more expensive Acura version of the same piece of junk?

I just spent two days in a Chevy Equinox.....

I'm not sure how commenting on the Chevy Equinox in an Acura thread is relevant, frostyross (a.k.a. carbuff346), but you say you just spent two days in an Equinox?  In another thread you said it was two days in a Chevy Cruz.  So, which is it?  Or is this just another example of your usual fabrications, exaggerations, and BS?  Any opportunity to put GM down, huh?  Even though it's pure fiction.  Nothing you write in this blog is to be believed.  Absolutely nothing.  This is just another example of you making stuff up.  Lame, really lame.

By the way, the professionals over at Consumers Digest have named the Equinox a Best Buy for the third year in a row.  I guess in their professional opinion they prove your assessment of the Equinox is dead wrong.  Funny, I didn't see any of your beloved Toyota's products make the list for compact, mid-size or full-size SUVs.  Guess they think your Highlander ranks below the Equinox.  No surprise, after all they're the professionals and you're......well, you're whatever you are.....but it isn't an automotive professional, that's for sure.

Highlander is way nicer, has much more power,

I would think it would be considering it is larger and costs $20k more.

A Land Cruiser is even nicer and has even more power.

I, too, have heard of this car being referred to as a "super Civic."  Perhaps what the Civic lacks in certain features the new ILX will make up for?   I happen to think it looks nice.  I would rather have this than a Civic because its nicer.  Not that I'm considering one mind you. But its kind of like, I would rather have an Audi A3 over a VW Golf.  Afterall, they are essentially the same car underneath and the Golf is a nice car but the Audi is nicer.  It has more features and is more visually appealing.  Tastes vary, of course, but isn't that why we choose any one car over another?

Just another badge engineering job that is only another over-priced version of the Civic

I agree.  If someone told me this was a Civic I'd have no reason not to believe them.  Except for the kick-up at the back of the rear door, they look pretty much identical.  To think they used to bang on GM for badge engineering to the extreme, how is this any different?  Does Honda think they're kidding anyone that this isn't a Civic?  Please.
