Drive down any suburban street and one of the most ubiquitous sights will be the garage door. But even though it's often one of the most prominent features of a home's facade, you likely don’t even notice the large, usually white door. StyleYourGarage.com wants to change that.

The German company says its “garage billboards are printed with images that show exactly what every car owner would like to have in their garage -- be it a real fighter jet, a fancy boat, a thoroughbred horse or a quaint wine cellar.” While the company does offer garage billboards with classic cars from Jaguar and Bentley as well as the modern MINI, we probably wouldn’t purchase one even if it featured a Bugatti Veyron or even a Camaro Convertible.

The company says that the “printed 3-D motifs play with different perspectives, are deceptively realistic and make passers-by stop and stare in amazement.” We don’t know about you, but we really aren’t comfortable with anyone stopping and staring at our garage for any reason -- or with wasting our hard-earned money on something so superficial.

The company also says that “the photo covers are light-fast, completely weatherproof and are made from a high-quality and stable material,” and that they’re secured to the garage door by Velcro. But this doesn’t inspire confidence that a garage billboard would look great after, say, baking in the Arizona sun over the summer or that it would survive a strong wind.

StyleYourGarage.com says that its online shop offers more than 350 designs and that it will even create custom designs and sizes. Designs are available for overhead, side-hinged and sectional doors, and for one- and two-car garage doors. But with garage billboards starting at $229, we can think of much better ways to spend the money on the inside, if you care more about your car than how your garage door looks to the outside world.

For just $19.99 you can get a set of two Wall Mounted Door Guards to protect from chipping paint on your car door and punching holes in the garage’s drywall when a door swings too wide, too fast. If you want to spend more, the Portable Detailing Platform & Workbench for $169.99 will make it easy to reach the roof of your SUV to wax it, or it can just provide an additional work surface. And for the same $229 you’d spend on a garage billboard that might blow away or fade like a bad tattoo, you can outfit your garage with a 4-horsepower air blower from Griot’s.

Of course, you may first have to clean out your garage to get these items -- and your car -- into it. And if you don’t have room for either, what’s the sense of blowing money on a garage billboard when your car will be blocking it most of the time anyway?
