Ford Focus ST Priced at $24,495

The Ford Focus ST will cost $24,495 when it arrives late this year including $795 in destination fees, if the spec sheet over at FordSTNation.com is to be believed. And we do, because that price is confirmed on Ford's consumer site.


The Focus ST will come with Ford's EcoBoost 2.0-liter engine that will deliver 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. Ford's new Enhanced Torque Vectoring Control is included to help eliminate torque steer on hard acceleration. A six-speed manual is standard.


Upgrading to the sport seats and better radio costs $2,385, while the Recaro full leather seats, topped-out radio and navigation will add about $4,435 to the price.


À la carte options include a moonroof ($895), navigation ($795), Tangerine Scream tricoat paint ($495) and an engine-block heater ($35).


The price and the power line the ST up nicely with the Volkswagen GTI and the Mazda Mazdaspeed 3, which cost $24,765 and $24,795 respectively.

I can get a Mazda 3 Speed fully loaded for cheaper with more horsepower and better gas milage.

Care to tell us where you live? The official Mazda Website lists a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 at 24,000 starting, far from your proclaimed 24k fully loaded. Furthermore, where did you get the MPG specs on the new ST Focus? There seems to be none posted on Fords official website as only the price and horsepower/torque is listed. As far as power goes, the ST Focus uses a 2.0 rated at the 252 HP and 270 lb-ft of torque and the Mazda uses a 2.3 rated at 263 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Both will probably get very very similiar acceleration times as the Mazdas engine is a little heavier but makes up with a little more power.

 

I understand you hate Ford but at least give real reasons, like you don't care for the styling of the vehicle, as opposed to made up crap like your assessment above.

I'm assuming that you meant the Dodge SRT-4 as there was never a Neon SRT-4. 

Yeah, that's what the Chrysler marketing people said at the time too.  But believe me, it was a Neon.  You'll notice when the Caliber SRT-4 came along they didn't try to "dodge" the real identity of the car.  Guess they realized that trying to tell people a Neon wasn't a Neon just didn't work out so well and decided not to pull the same sort of BS with the Caliber.  The Germans from Daimler were running Chrysler into the ground when the Neon SRT-4 was introduced, same with the ill-fated Caliber, no surprise.

Slight correction, the Caliber may be out of production and the SRT-4 version died awhile ago, but there are still 2012 Calibers on the lots.  In fact, Chrysler just sold 1,408 Calibers in April.

I specifically said the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 is no longer sold which is correct.

So, a decade later Ford comes out with a competitor to the Dodge Neon SRT4

The SVT Focus was considered to be the competition for the Neon SRT4. Granted, the Neon had forced induction and the Focus did not but that was the closest comparison of the era.

Sorry to say it Mr. Mazda but the 3 and the Focus still share the same basic structure. Short of a few different bends in the metal and some badging they are the same. As for the different stroke in the engine 2.0-2.3 even the power plants are the same so please thank Ford for the Zoom-Zoom that you would like to enjoy.

 I'm not bashing the Mazda at all. I wish Ford would have done this years ago as they have not had a fun little pocket rocket since the early 90's. The Mazda is a VERY Fun car to drive and now finally Ford has it's own version since they have sold off their governing share of Mazda.

I m sure it is very capable and fun to drive but it looks like a monkfish. I remeber the first gen Focus that was an eyecatcher. The evolution of that design has become a sad shape.

Anyway, it's still pretty irreverent considering that the Dodge SRT-4 and the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 that replaced it  are no longer sold.

 

However, we might be lucky enough to get a Dart SRT-4 within the next few years.
