Joe Flacco wins little red Corvette

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback gets a Corvette Stingray to go with his MVP trophy.

Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco and his 2014 Corvette Stingray

You’re the winning quarterback of Super Bowl XLVII. You’re also most valuable player of Super Bowl XLVII. You get the ring. What else could be better? How about a new 2014 Corvette Stingray? Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco accepted a red 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray -- interesting color choice given the Ravens’ opponents in last night’s game -- Monday at  Banner Chevrolet of New Orleans. (Banner Chevrolet, in business since 1972, lost its entire stock of 650 Chevrolet vehicles during Hurricane Katrina, and recently completed a multimillion-dollar restoration of the dealership.)

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in January, where it was considered the star car of the show. The seventh-generation Corvette features Chevrolet's 6.2-liter 450-horsepower V8 LT1 engine and radical styling cues. Starting at about $50,000, the C7 Corvette will go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.

Chevrolet says the car will sprint from zero to 60 mph in less than four seconds. If Flacco decides to see what the car can do on the streets of Baltimore, he might be able to talk his way out of a ticket, but he’ll probably get a warning from Baltimore’s finest, just so they have his autograph.

Good for him!!  There's no greater game in the USA than the Super Bowl, and no greater car that represents America than the Corvette!  I'm jealous!

Troy S. and your "Enjoy the plastic fantastic!" comment

So by drawing on your "humble qualifcations" you should know that composite materials such as Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber, as well as plastic are intrinsic in world class sports and race cars. Corvette incorporates the ues of these materials today on the Z06 Corvette with carbon-fiber panels used for the front fenders, front wheelhouses, hood, and rear fenders bringing the car`s curb weight to aprox 3,200 pounds, keep in mind that this is with AC, radio, etc. A remarkable accomplishment.

So the next time the peanut gallery Parrot`s make the all to familiar remark about Corvette, or any other world class sports car and thier materials, educate the uninformed to a higher level so they rise above the school of the youtube fanboy club or the pompous Top Gear crew
