Recall: Land Rover LR2, Range Rover Evoque for brake calipers

Worry not, only 70 vehicles are affected.

Land Rover is recalling 70 models of its LR2 and Range Rover Evoque SUVs for brake calipers that may fall off, according to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The rear brake calipers may not be bolted with the proper torque and could fall off, even striking the wheel and deflating the tire in the process. The recall is limited to 2012 models manufactured only on June 11, due to a maintenance error that occurred that day on assembly line machines that put together suspension components.

Dealers will inspect the calipers and tighten them to the correct torque starting Jan. 18. Owners can contact Land Rover at 1-800-452-4827 to find out if their vehicles were made on that specific date.
