Everything Is Bigger in Texas, Even Speed Limits

Texas is preparing to open a stretch of toll road this November with the highest speed limit in America: 85 mph.
The road between Austin and San Antonio will stretch for 41 miles, in an attempt to alleviate traffic congestion on nearby Interstate 35.
There are already roads in Texas and Utah where the posted speed limit is 80 mph.
No toll price has been set, but it will likely be cheaper than getting ticketed for driving at 85 mph on other highways.

So many morons on this post. The speed limit is already 80 on many highways in Texas and I have traveled the highway between Houston and San Antonio about twice a month for several years and have never seen any problems or accidents. Until recently, Montana didn't even have speed limits on their highways as long as you weren't driving eratically. German autobahns (highways) have no speed limit and their accident rate is far lower than on highways in the US which generally have a 65 mile an hour speed limit. Speed is not the problem, it is ignorant, self-centered americans who don't know how to drive or think they are the only one on the road that matters, that cause all the problems and accidents. A huge number of accidents are caused by people using their cell phones while driving. Those people are the biggest intellectually deficient human beings of them all. I must say it is a pleasure to be able to drive down a straight highway at 85 without worrying about being pulled over, and get to where you're going that much faster.
The biggest problem we have in the states: it's expected that, on the freeway, drivers will only get ticketed if they drive 10 miles an hour (or faster) over the posted limit. This obviously makes the "true" speed limit of, say, a 65 mile/hour zone really 75, and 75 is probably faster than that average American can handle.
I drove in Germany, and while the Germans drive much faster, they are technically better drivers. You don't see too many tailgaters there, and it's not usually speed that kills but doing stupid stuff or tailgating. And the average German IQ is about five points higher than the average American, which is actually shockingly high. (if you doubt this do a web search. We're really behind some Aisan countries.)
Oh, by the way: make physics required in American schools. You'll see less accidents.
