Recalled: 2012 Porsche 911 for Fuel-Line Leak

The connector in new Carrera S models could malfunction and leak fuel.

By Clifford Atiyeh Mar 26, 2012 12:29PM
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S, (c) MSN AutosPorsche will recall more than 1,200 brand-new 2012 911 Carrera S cars for a fuel line that could leak, the company said Monday.

Porsche said the car's fuel-line connector could be touching a coolant pipe from the front radiators, which  "can impair the locking function of the quick connector, causing the quick connector to open and leak fuel." In addition to potential fires, the engine could shut off without notice, the company said.

Dealers will install spacer rings if the coolant pipe and fuel line are touching. The recall for the 1,232 cars will begin in April.

The 911 is all-new for 2012 and features a wider wheelbase, larger engines, more luxurious interiors, and an industry-first 7-speed manual transmission.

Well Troy, Porsche isn't like GM.  Posche has had recalls in the past, and they've always been good about them.

If Porsche was like GM, they'd call this a "customer satisfaction program".

This is how you handle a recall.  You don't wait until people are hurt or killed, and you don't wait until property is damaged or destroyed.  In addition, you don't cover it up, or blame others.   When the Panamera first came out, Porsche issued a recall right away and took care of it.
