SUV Gets Airborne From Heat-Buckled Highway
Crumbling infrastructure creates a makeshift ramp that one driver failed to respect.
This YouTube video captures a "Dukes of Hazzard"-style jump off a heat-buckled bit of Highway 29 in Eau Claire, Wis. Despite some clear warning signs to either side of the ramplike section of road, the SUV heads through far too fast, leading to some significant hang time and, after crashing back to earth, a wild skid all the way across the oncoming lanes of traffic before finally coming to rest in a field. No word on the physical state of the driver (or any other occupants) and we wish all well -- though after watching the jump, the fact that the car came to rest wheels-down is a minor miracle.
That stretch of road had warning signs and a slow down section of a quarter mile with a posted speed of "walking" (less than 5mph).
These simple phucks thought it would be cute to remove the numerous signs leading up to the ramp and turn the last two around, and then video tape their work. When the SUV hit the buckled roadway at 70mph they had an "Oh Sh!t" moment and didn't want to be seen filming by the unanticipated oncoming traffic.
That is why there is no audio and no other information. The punks that did this damn near killed the two people in the SUV along with six other occupants of the two oncoming vehicles.
Really smart. They'll get caught and be punished. Funny thing about punks. They get caught because of their wide open mouths, and then when doing time in prison, they get caught with their mouths wide open.
P.S. See the three vehicles on the right side of the road? The one in the middle is mine. The driver of the silver car (closest to the punks) was shooting video of the damage to his car. He got footage of the overpass, the punks speeding off, and the WSP now have the tape. These punks will be busted soon if not already because the DOT is reviewing their videos leading to and from the area. Only a matter of time.
