The largest Rolls-Royce showroom in the U.S. opened this week in Long Island, N.Y. The space includes the biggest customer lounge in the world that highlights the "thousands of leather, color, and trim samples" available.

If you're familiar with Nassau County, a brand-new Rolls-Royce dealership is no bigger news than a Wal-Mart opening in your average suburb. It's a packed, posh, and ultra-desirable part of the island, with its brick homes and close-to-Manhattan commute. Of course, Nassau County used to be a bit more average than it is now, but New Yorkers -- as they've done in Connecticut's Fairfield County over the last 30 years -- have a bad habit of leaving their city and making everything near it ridiculously expensive.

This part of Long Island is now a natural spot to place "more than a dozen" Rolls-Royce models on a 9,200-square foot lot. Along with a new dealership this year in Tampa Bay, the Long Island Rolls dealer is just one of 37 in North America.


Even so, it'll be tough to crack the success of the Beverly Hills dealership, which has been known to fly in bespoke vehicles from England and alone took a whopping 6 percent of the company's worldwide sales a few years back. It'll also be tough to beat Dubai, which sold more than 100 cars last year and is one of the top 10 Rolls-Royce dealerships in sales.

In 2011, Rolls-Royce sold a record 3,538 cars.
