Redesigned Subaru Forester debuts at LA Auto Show
The crossover gets roomier interior, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine option.
Subaru debuted the new 2014 Forester at the 2012 Los Angeles auto show. The crossover, now entering its fourth generation, gets a significant styling refresh and a roomier interior — all while gaining just over one inch in overall length and around one inch in width.
According to Subaru, the 2014 Forester will also get an updated suspension system. The new crossover's reported 8.7-inch ground clearance is the same as that on the base model of the current Forester.
In addition to the new styling and suspension, the 2014 Forest adds an engine option: a 2.0-liter turbocharged horizontally opposed four-cylinder producing 250 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter Boxer good for 170 hp, which debuted on the previous Forester, is also available.
Buyers of vehicles equipped with the 2.5-liter engine will choose either a six-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission. Foresters equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo all get a CVT. All-wheel drive is standard on all vehicles.

Subaru's styling has been in "econobox" bland-mode for a while now. It can only happen to Subaru, that older models actually look better than the new ones.
That company is a basket case, on-track to become a complete basket case. What a disappointment.
