And be informed: Bankrate decodes car advertiser come-ons
Bankrate.com has a great piece that examines some of the common phrases, incentives and tricks car dealers use to get you in the door. Anyone who has spent time in front of the radio or TV has inevitably heard the terms “zero percent financing” and “must make room for new models” thrown around, as well as the claim that the dealer will pay off your current car no matter what you owe.
The truth: Zero percent financing is a qualified claim, and unlikely; they do need to make room for new models, but that doesn’t necessarily save you money; and you, not the dealer, will end up paying off your current car, thanks to creative invoicing.
