Ford gets CES recognition for technological innovations
Ford has been pulling ahead of its domestic rivals lately in terms of financial news, new product ratings, and just general accolades. And it has just added two more.At the annual convention of all this geek and gadget, the Consumer Electronics Show held every January in Las Vegas, both Ford's Work Solutions system and the Traffic, Directions & Information application for its proprietary Sync system will be honored with International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards.
The Work Solutions in-dash computer, which creates a mobile office for fleet and commercial customers with F-150, F-Series Super Duty, E-Series Van and Transit Connect, will be awarded Best Innovations in the category of In-Vehicle Accessories. The system combines high-speed internet access with Bluetooth connectivity and a Garmin-powered navigation system, provides fleet tracking and telematics capabilities, and even has an application to track RFID-tagged tools in the toolbox.
The Sync's Traffic, Directions & Information application was singled out in the category of In-Vehicle Navigation/Telematics/ITS (Intelligent Transportation System). The application offers a combination of voice-activated driving and calling capabilities and turn-by-turn directions; it is a new addition to the Sync suite of services, which includes an integrated media player, 911 Assist, and Vehicle Health Report.
We can't wait to see what awards their expanding seatbelts will walk away with next year.
