Attention Nissan Owners
Geographic recall for three Nissan, two Infiniti models
As The New York Times is reporting on its Wheels blog, Nissan is issuing a geographic recall of about 143,000 vehicles in 20 cold-weather states and Washington, D.C., because of corrosion issues due to road salt that could cause tire-pressure monitors to malfunction. The affected vehicles are the Infiniti M35 and M45 from model years 2008-2010, plus the 2009 Nissan Cube, Murano and Rogue. The states where the recall will go into effect are as follows: Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C.The article has a roundup of other recalls in the motoring world:
- The massive Ford recall of 4.5 million vehicles we reported earlier.
- Another cold-weather recall, this time from Toyota and GM: A combined 106,000 2009-2010 Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe and 2008-9 Scion xD (all with the 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine) have issues with ice buildup in the intake manifold suction port, and will be recalled in Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
- In motorcycle news, BMW is recalling an as-of-yet unspecified number of its 2009 K 1300 GT and K 1300 S motorcycles due to faulty handlebar switches (for turn signals and the starter button), while Ducati will pull back 750 bikes -- affecting 2009 1198 S and 1098 R and the 2010 F1098S Streetfighter -- due to the potential for a fuel hose to come loose.
