BMW aims for a mere 1,000 U.S. sales of its 2010 ActiveHybrid X6 and 7-series

By Joshua Condon Sep 2, 2009 2:39PM
For all the press BMW's new X6 and 7-series ActiveHybrids have received prior to their official debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the company sure is setting the bar low for sales.

According to this report from AutoWeek, BMW is looking to sell a total of only 1,000 -- 1/200th of its projected total sales for the year -- of the two models, despite the fact that both EVs also boast improved performance over their nonhybrid predecessors.

Apparently, BMW is not looking to hybrids alone for an overall greening of its fleet; in addition, it is also considering the addition of more diesels to its U.S. offerings, which would add some company to the lonely X5 xDrive 35d and 335d -- the only two BMW diesels currently available in the States. It seems Johan de Nysschen isn't the only one bullish on diesel's benefits.
