Good News for Chrysler Owners
Company will honor liability claims for pre-Fiat-controlled vehicles
When Chrysler went into Chapter 11 back on April 30, bankruptcy protection laws shielded it from any liability associated with defective products that were delivered to customers before that date, including lemon-law claims, personal-injury claims and class-action suits. Today, however, Chrysler announced that it is stepping up to the plate and accepting product-liability claims for those vehicles.
The move, according to company officials (as reported by Consumer Reports), is meant to bolster consumer confidence in Chrysler products, as well as to signify that its overall business is in better shape than previously thought (the company, it should be noted, is now under a controlling interest from Italian automaker Fiat).
Great news for those affected by faulty Chrysler vehicles, who no longer find themselves kicked to the curb without recourse, and good on Chrysler for doing the right thing.
