See 28 women crammed into a MINI Cooper

U.K. gymnasts set a new world record for the most people in the tiny car.

Here's one for the record books, filed under the chapter "Contorted Joints" in subsection "Intense Body Odors."

What you're seeing is 28 young women in a MINI Cooper just outside Tower Bridge in London. This happened for no reason other than to have 28 people crammed on top of each other -- legs and armpits and other body parts in places where they should never be -- to claim another page in Guinness World Records.

The women, naturally, are gymnasts and hail from East Sussex in Britain. They beat their own record of 27 people set last year. And in a separate feat, they fit 23 people into an original Mini, breaking the world record by two people. Remember, the original Mini is nearly the half the size of the current MINI. Really, it's incredible there was still oxygen left inside the cabin.

Of course, the act of cramming as many people as possible inside a car is nothing new. College students often do it because they're young and dumb. People in poorer countries are often forced to for lack of sufficient transportation. But when you're about to set a world record and have the backing of a major car company, well -- oh, never mind, it's still insane.
