Survey: Men Are Much More Likely to Rely on GPS Than Women
Australian insurance company research shows 64 percent of men use navigation systems, while only half of women do.
The next time you hear a male driver boast about his gender's superior ability to arrive at a destination without getting lost, note that it may be because he and his XY brethren are getting more help in the form of GPS navigation systems.Australian insurance company AAMI recently undertook a survey to find out more about the use of in-car navigation systems and was surprised to find that Australian men relied on GPS at a significantly higher rate than did women. Sixty-four percent of male drivers copping to nav use, compared with just 50 percent of women.
An AAMI representative called the results "surprising" and said the company "thought it would have been a little more even and maybe even slanted in favor of women."
The study also showed that younger drivers were more likely to rely on GPS devices to find their way.
So what does our American audience think? Is there something inherently different about our nation's nav-system use, or would a similar study conducted here look about the same?

I cannot tell you how many women I know that can't find an alternate route, or know which way is north or south or east or west. I'm sure women know their way to a few places by memory: the hairstylist, the mall, the night clubs, and their boyfriend's place. My future fiancee couldn't successfully find my home at first after detailed map and landmark instructions with a Google map link printout AND her phone's GPS. So I throw the BS flag on this article!
It would be hilarious if it weren't true.
This article is poorly written, site: "The next time you hear a male driver boast about his gender's superior ability to arrive at a destination without getting lost." Men are notorious for NOT asking directions. This article is typical MSN yellow journalism which promotes the false social values of degradating men in favor of women. This article is typical of the sexist values that MSNBC represents.
I know women who are great drivers, who know directions from here to there, who know and do use a GPS. But to degrade men as this article does has nothing to do with the facts.
MSNBC is a racist and sexist organization dedicated to yellow journalism and the promotion of false social values.
MSN = Divide and Conquer
I guess the constantly rotating gay/black/jewish/gun stories are not enough they now are going for women vs. men... With "Journalists" like this who needs enemies? And to see how easy it works, wow no wonder our politicians and 1% get away with murder and treason.
