X Games 2012: Hot Wheels Drivers Set a New World Record

Greg Tracy, Tanner Foust hit 7 Gs during the double loop-the-loop.

By Joshua Condon Jun 30, 2012 10:45AM
The ramps are 6.5 stories high, and the drivers -- stunt driver Greg Tracy and race driver and TV host Tanner Foust -- experienced 7 Gs worth of pressure on their way to completing the never-before-attempted double loop-the-loop during @XGames today in Los Angeles. So, yeah, these guys (plus a whole team of engineers and various crew) brought a boyhood Hot Wheels dream into the real world with the Double Loop Dare. And it was amazing.

Everyone saying it was stupid and boring. Go up there and hit 7g's in a loop driving upside down without messing it up. Idiots.

Ok maybe a waste of money, but come on, this was awesome!!  I would think it would be every "little boys" dream to do this for real!!!  I'm a girl and my brother and I played with this track as kids, I'd LOVE to do this!!  It would be a blast!!!

How are you people not impressed by this?  I am amazed when my golf ball makes the loop at the miniature golf course.  They did it in huge machines!

Now do two consecutive loops; (one right after the other) :)

Too bad Top Gear UK did this a couple of weeks ago, and actually did TWO loops.  Old news.
