I've had it with you technically-illiterate bozo's ALWAYS hyping the FOREIGN brands, especially with millions of Americans out of work. Stick with GM, Ford and Chrysler products, which work better in winter weather than ANY foreign treasonmobile. You want a Florida car? Try a Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro convertible, not a Ferrari or some other foreign waste of money that destroys US jobs. You want a 4x4 truck? All 3 of the "Detroit Three" build an infinitely better truck than Toyota or Nissan. When you have a Master's in statistics AND 34 years in automotive quality management as I do, then you can talk about quality, but a journalism degree and bribes-for-hype from foreign carmakers, does not make the media "quality experts".

These people are pretty much complete Idiots (as USUAL). I can understand using a Ford or Chevy truck, Jeep (even a Hummer, NO tracks) (where was Dodge?) in snow/mud/hard country but who in their right mind would use a Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche or top of the line Rover? Yes, use & dog the subaru because its still a POS anyway. Noticed this time around NO amount of rice scrap was tossed IN as those POS vehicles are nothing more than a SHI**Y diaper on an sunny, warm day.

I grew up in Portland ME, have lived in Maine all of my life, and do NOT drive a Chevy Suburban; and I don't know anyone who does (most of us couldn't afford the gas!). Sure, we get a lot of snowy weather here, but most people drive just fine with Subarus, small SUV's, and trucks. Most of the people I work with drive regular front wheel drive cars, such as myself, and just drive carefully. Unfortunately, I end up seeing people driving SUVs during a snowstorm that end up in a ditch because they drive too fast for the road conditions...

Kudos to Evan Griffey for such a well written and informative article?
I can see that he must spent some extensive time researching for this article as I never knew that Seattle would be such a HOTBED for Subaru 4x4 vehicles with an average annual snowfall of 20".
Living in NY STATE, I would have thought that he would chose Vermont for an average annual snowfall of 101"(9+FT) to be a HOTBED OF PORSCHE or other like vehicles instead of having so many different Subaru models on the ROAD.
Evan- great job on this article, however, I suggest that you go back to your newspaper route which might not be as complicated as looking up facts.

Um really a hummer with frekin tracks!! I live in Fairbanks Alaska and Im just letting you know that, if we wanna go on the tundra we use our snow mobiles (mine is pink :D) not a frekin hummer no one in alaska truley likes hummers you will see alot of old 1980s and 90s trucks the reson they have killer heaters and they run in the winter GREAT! Just because it gets -60 below out dosent mean we need a hummer we need a car or truck with a good heater and that has blizzacks. I drive my pontaic g6 perfectly all winter. you msn people ovually have never lived or even visited alaska.... ahhh. Idiots lol
