My favorite car of all time, is the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. 440 Magnum with a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter. Though, if a guy had a "Restored" one, these days, it'd be sitting in a climate controlled shop, covered with a soft cloth. Only revealed to "show it off" to friends and fellow enthusiasts.
Gone are the days that one would merely wash it up, shine it up, and drive it to an outdoor movie theatre, cruise the AVE, take the girl friend to the Hamburger stand (with Car Hops, of course). Or, to the local car club.
Gone are the days that your average working Joe could afford such a demonstrably cool car.
So, yeah..... I'd call it (today) a trophy car. And probably wouldn't enjoy it as much, just because.
No thanks! I will take my F150 pickup truck anyday over any of these cars. To be fair, I'm not going to say these cars are ugly but here is my point.... A person can spend 100's of thousands or more on a car like these listed. They are not the kind of car that you would want to put miles on or park it anywhere. In fact all it will do is sit there and never move while the person spent a ton of cash on it.
OR.... A person can spend roughly 35 thousand on a brand new beautiful truck or car for example. It is a beautiful purchase but it's one that can be enjoyed, driven and parked without drawing tons of negative attention.
So.... let's have a vote here. Anyone who reads this, feel free to leave a comment and tell me honestly as well as other readers what you would do and why in regards to this post even if you had millions of dollars in your bank account right now.
Whomever wrote this article should be a little more tactful. Consider Carrol Shelby died this year
Trophy cars are in the eyes of the owners and for the clown gripping about all the foreign stuff, Tucker warned the big 3 about that many years ago. We taught them how to build radios, cars and many other products and they have pretty much kicked our buts in return by making a better product. Because we have stagnated! Take for instance the HD Motorcycle 1940's technology in the 21century wake up folks if you want a good american product go back to the basics and make to best product availble and gain control of the quality our forefathers started. Quality not quantity period!
Ferrari 458 typo: the Spider's zero-to-60 mph sprint is expedited in about three seconds (.) (A) t 199 mph, (the top speed is) a touch less than the coupe. You guys made it look like it went 0-199mph in 3 seconds.
