Did you even look at the back seat of these vehicles before you picked? The Grand Caravan and the Sienna are the only two vehicles in the group that can really seat more than four comfortably. The max on the rest is four or less. A Prius? Really?
A Prius?? A Prius is one of the best "family haulers" that you can find? It better be a very SMALL family! With very little luggage. And based on the recent Insurance Institute tests, they had better be very lucky drivers because they will likely die if they crash that car.
Would you put your family in that little thing?
lol. the most selling cars (FORD) doesn't have a car in there... are we brain washed. or I\FORD didn't take the BAIL OUT. don't drink the cool aid.
I have to say CruzCtrl's response could have been done with more tact, but he is spot on. Would seem the author has more vested then what he is letting on. I agree you cannot leave the Ford Fusion out of this list, it is great looking, fits five better than many of these cars, and the only real American car with a chance to take some Japanese market share back. I said car and not mini-van or SUV so we are clear. The Fusion does have better Consumer Reviews then many of the cars on the list, you know reviews by you and me not the so called experts.
Living in NorCal the Prius is the bane of anyone who knows how to drive in this fair state with their hyper-mileage **** attitude and the fact they never move out of the fast lane. In fact most have lost that decency in California not just Prius drivers.
PS the new VW’s are boring compared to the last generation. I do like the diesel powertrain though.
It is obvious Mr. Bell has his pockets lined by Chrysler, Toyota, Mazda and GM, come on and the dumbed down version of the VW Passat as well. It saddens me this level of Journalistic integrity or lack thereof. The Ford Fusion and Explorer should be noted as great family cars of this generation. In fact the Fusion if for no other reason has better CONSUMER REVIEWS than most the cars on this list and incredible fuel economy on top of being made by an American Company that didn't need TARP money. Mr. Bell I have been in the automotive business at the highest levels of TRW, Roush Inc, Ford Europe, and MBZ USA, you sir are the problem with American Journalism you lack a spine and any imagination. The Chevy Citation was voted the Motor Trend Car of the Year by sad journalist like you and little has changed since that time in 1980 in regards to GM and or Journalism. Mazda is the only car company you named that is doing it different today and Honda hands down will always be a better quality product than a Toyota, even if you lame journalist praise the boring Prius for the next twenty years.
Mr. Bell, I challenge you to drive the cars on your list with 30-50,000 miles on them and then write a real review. I bet less than half the cars on your list would be there if you had any integrity and really know how to drive. I can with utmost certainty tell you nothing from Chrysler will still be on your list, unless you are deaf and cannot hear all the rattles and squeaks. Perhaps real quality does not matter to you? Perhaps.
