Best Cars for a Spring Break Getaway
Austin, Texas | Dodge Durango
You say that you and your college buddies love the music and film scene? Well then, you owe it to yourselves to set the course for lively Austin, where the famous South by Southwest festival transforms the city every March. Considering the scope and duration of the event, you'll want something roomy, comfortable and convenient — after all, you may even have to sleep in it. We suggest the fully revamped Dodge Durango. With engine options ranging from the award-winning Pentastar V6 engine to the stump-pulling Hemi V8, plus its exceptional towing and fuel range, this big SUV is the perfect option for a trip down to the fun-loving city in the Lone Star State.
Orlando, Fla. | Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon
Few American creations are better-suited to family recreation and entertainment than the sprawling Disney World theme park in sunny Orlando. What's one of those American creations, you ask? Well, the outrageous Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon fits that bill with aplomb. Its supercharged 556-horsepower V8 engine, phenomenal handling, tech-laden interior and spacious seating can make for a family experience that would rival the best roller coasters Disney has to offer. Don't be surprised to see the kids more excited to hop into this pavement-melting wagon than they are to wait in line for an amusement-park ride.
Tijuana, Mexico | Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
If you're an adventurous college student thirsting for crazy times, you may want to consider crossing the border into Tijuana, where the wild party threshold gets pushed up a few significant notches. (Note: The editors of MSN Autos do not condone actually doing this.) For this, you'll want a ride capable of conquering the apocalypse — namely, the Ford F-150 in SVT Raptor trim. With more than 13 inches of wheel travel from its Fox Racing suspension and 411 horsepower erupting from its 6.2-liter V8 engine, the Raptor is street-legal, off-road debauchery at its finest. Considering its irreverence for paved roads, you may even consider setting out south past Tijuana to explore the rugged rural areas of Mexico, perhaps even making your way all the way around to Cancun.
Miami | Audi R8 Spyder
What if you're a single dad and want to take the kid on a memorable spring break? What if you don't have the kid and you're looking for the wife? Assuming you have the dough, the answer is to hop in the electrifying Audi R8 Spyder supercar and set course for the southern tip of the East Coast: Miami. With a howling 5.2-liter V10 engine behind the seats churning out a whopping 525 horsepower (a lesser though still-thrilling 420-horsepower V8 is also available), you can guarantee your little one will be grinning from ear to ear the whole time, even if he's not terribly fond of the absurdly glistening muscles, skimpy swimwear or overpriced frou-frou food found along Miami's beaches.
Los Angeles | Porsche Panamera S Hybrid
Do the kids want to visit the city where their favorite movies and TV shows are born? Do they get giddy at the thought of seeing their favorite stars in person? If so, it's time to plan a trip to Los Angeles to explore Hollywood and its many attractions, with Universal Studios being just one obvious destination. In this land of extremes, you'll want a ride that stands out but doesn't scream "thoughtless consumer," and for that we recommend the Porsche Panamera S in its latest hybrid configuration. Boasting 380 horsepower and capable of 30 mpg highway, this sumptuous, elegant and performance-oriented 4-door grand-touring sedan features the best of nearly all worlds, and is the perfect ride in which to explore the chaos of Los Angeles in peace and luxury.

Must-See on MSN
Kind of a worthless article. Most of the places are not spring break destinations, and most of the cars are not for rent by any mainstream rental companies. If you can find a Raptor at a rental counter in Tijuana, I'll buy you dinner. And who would be stupid enough to drive off-road through rural Mexican drug country all the way to Cancun?
You can do better James.
the only "sports" type car was a Boss Mustang. Where is the Z06 Corvette or the Camaro. What can you expect from a liberal news organization like MSN.
