Completely redesigned last year, the Honda Odyssey takes top honors in the minivan category of Kelley Blue Book's 2006 Best Resale Value Award winners.

Kelley Blue Book, which awards vehicles projected to have the best resale value after five years of ownership, has both BMW and Nissan leading the way once again with two models each—the BMW 5-Series and BMW-built MINI Cooper, as well as the Nissan-built Infiniti G35 Coupe and Infiniti M45.

Besides BMW and Nissan, other brands listed as repeat winners are the Lexus GX 470, Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC90.

"Kelley Blue Book and its staff of industry experts take great pride in accurately reflecting the market values of new and used vehicles and in reporting that information to consumers in easy-to-understand form," said Paul Johnson, president of Kelley Blue Book. "The winners of these prestigious awards capture a magical combination of attractive design, superior build quality and customer appeal that stand the test of time."

While the vehicles listed here are the best, Kelley noted that all vehicles depreciate with time. Typically, a vehicle loses 65 percent of its value in its first five years. But some have a slower depreciation rate, and Kelley's top ten for 2006 are vehicles expected to depreciate about 50 percent over five years.

Vehicles falling off of the best resale value list for 2006 are the Acura TL, Honda Civic, Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 Cabriolet, Mazda RX-8 and Nissan 350Z. New additions include the sixth-generation Chevrolet Corvette and two hybrids—the Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Prius.

The awards are presented to the vehicles with the highest projected resale value in each of Kelley Blue Book's nine vehicle categories. In addition, awards are presented to the overall top ten leaders in projected resale value. Kelley Blue Book also honors the brand with the best projected resale value across its line of vehicles. Low-volume vehicles and vehicles with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price of more than $60,000 are excluded from awards consideration.
