Porsche is adding a dark and sinister model to the Carrera lineup, the 2012 Black Edition.
The 911 sports car will be available in coupe and roadster forms, arriving in spring 2011. There will be 1,911 cars made for the world, with about 573 coming to a crucial U.S. market.
Power is drawn from the 3.6-liter flat 6-cylinder making 345 horsepower paired to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed PDK gearbox.
As the name implies, the car comes in black — solid or a shade called basalt black metallic. There are two-color 19-inch wheels from the 911 Turbo and black, four-piston brake calipers. Inside are more black finishings, including the instrument cluster, contrasting molding and special badging.
The coupe will cost $82,250 and the roadster stickers for $92,250, including destination.
