I'm glad they dialed back the gadgets in Bond's cars with Casino Royale. The gadgets were getting more and more over the top with each progressing movie. By the time they got to Die another Day, it was ridiculous! An invisible car? Come on!
The DBS in Casino Royale was reasonably realistic. Hidden gun, uplink and medical kit with difib seems reasonable.
I grew up in the 60's & 70's. One of the BIGGEST reasons I went to see James Bond films was for all the gagetry that Q demo'd for us. It was exciting! But eversince Casino Royale came out, Bond films have never been the same. In fact, I firmly believe that the best James Bond movies ever made were with Albert Broccoli at the helm. After he produced "The Living Daylights" with Timothy Dalton, Bond films have never been as good. His daughter, Barbara Broccoli, took over the Bond empire in 1995 with "Goldeneye" and thus began the darker side of Bond. Gadgetry became less focused on, Q died and John Cleese took his place but quickly fizzled away, Judy "stench" Dench acts like a mother figure to Bond, and the James Bond character has been reduced from being swauve and debonaire to being bewildered and withdrawn. Bond films today contain plenty of drama and almost no gadgetry. This is why I refuse to go to the theater and see one anymore!
Well, one thing is for sure, the Aston Matins are the best of this bunch of Bond cars. I am surprised they left out the Jaguars though. There is one standard Bond requirement that should always remain, a great , cool, exotic and potent company car at some point in every movie.
Also with all the real world high tech and military gadgets there are now, I would expect a big government funded, save the world superspy would be well armed and equipped with them too.
I also loved the neat little gadgets, and although tone would expect more fancy things , keep in mind that Casino Royale was actually one of the first installation of Ian's Bond books to come out, so it should have been the first actual film. But with the nw skyfall, I hope to see something especially with such nice cars in previous films, and the infamous lazer watch
The Connery / Moore Era was the Very Best ! The Pierce Brosnan Movies were Ok, Timothy Dalton had no style, or acting abilities, Daniel Craig looks and acts like a KGB Agent and is too dark and serious, and since then they've become too far fetched and reliant on Tech, Gadgets, and Exploding this and that !
The Astons ruled, and Bond should only drive British vehicles
I agree with Judy Dench comment, a little to motherly, not shot if is was casino Royale or the last one that she cut his credit card, and put the tracking pin on him, like he couldn't take it out like the other guy did. The staction has increased which is good, but still would like to see the technology.
