2014 Kia Forte 5-door

A new engine option marked the reveal of the 2014 Kia Forte 5-door at the Chicago Auto Show.

The 1.6-liter gasoline direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine puts out 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The engine can be mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This engine option is the most powerful of the Forte lineup, which also includes the Forte sedan and Forte Koup.

The base engine is a 2.0-liter gasoline direct-injection four-cylinder engine that puts out 173 hp and 154 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2014 Kia Forte hatchback can come in two varieties: the base EX and the sportier SX.

Standard technology includes Kia's UVO infotainment system with rear camera display, Bluetooth and satellite radio. Other standard features include 16-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, and LED headlights.

Stepping up to the SX trim adds 18-inch wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, LED taillights, a more aggressive front end, larger front brakes, alloy sport pedals and seats with faux carbon-fiber accents.
